Established in 1962, La Sentinelle Group is a reference in the Mauritian Press & Media Industry. Aiming to diversify into magazine publishing, it has created two subsidiaries: Graphic Press Ltd, a design and pre-press studio, and Caractère Ltée.

LA SENTINELLE GROUP / THE GROUP EXPLORES THE REGIONAL MARKET. Control of the printing processes has enabled us to win our first contracts in the printing of magazines in Reunion Island and the printing of large volumes in Madagascar.
TO SUPPORT ITS GROWTH, THE GROUP HAS ALSO RELIED ON THE ACQUISITION OF COMPANIES. It has bought 5-Plus, a large circulation weekly newspaper, as well as the equipment of its printing company, thus expanding our park of printing machines.
THE PARK HAS BEEN EXTENDED AND BECAME MORE SOPHISTICATED. Doubling our capacity with the acquisition of two new Speedmaster CD 102s, therefore multiplying our processing solutions.
LEADER IN THE MAGAZINE MARKET, LA SENTINELLE GROUP HAS ACQUIRED BUSINESS PUBLICATIONS, the publisher of the country’s leading business magazine and of multiple directories. We have sharpened our skills in publishing and taken our first steps in the textbook market.
THE LOCAL PRINTING INDUSTRY STARTED RESTRUCTURING. La Sentinelle acquired the equipment and activities of Mauritius Stationery Manufacturers (MSM), the number one company in commercial and industrial packaging. This is a major turning point for us. With a park of 6000 m2, we expanded our product offering and positioned ourselves as the No. 1 in the commercial printing and finishing sector.
LA SENTINELLE JOINED LE MAURICIEN GROUP TO PRINT OUR RESPECTIVE NEWSPAPERS ON ONE AND THE SAME PRESS. Both groups created Impress Print, an independent company. The sale of its own press allowed La Sentinelle Group to consider the acquisition of a jointly owned press machine, a fully automated and larger capacity Manroland Coldset WEB Press as we start dealing with larger orders from Africa.
THE AFRICAN BOOK MARKET OPENED FOR US. We won a first call for tenders financed by the World Bank to print textbooks for six African countries: Caractère Education was born. Caractère Ltée also consolidated its presence in neighbouring countries, thanks to its new industrial capabilities. The increased demand from Reunion required the opening of a head office on the island, Caractère Reunion.
WITH THE PROLIFERATION OF SHOPPING CENTRES, THE FAST FOOD MARKET BECAME MORE DYNAMIC. We meet the standards of food packaging. To the labels of all kinds made by our flexography unit, we added boxes, paper straws and paper cups.
KARA, a new product line for ecological packaging products (cups, straws, burger boxes etc) was launched.
